oice for Baloch Missing Persons rejects the government task force

Quetta :

(BW News monitoring Desk) The chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, Nasrullah Baloch, expressed his lack of confidence in the task force set up by the government for the missing persons, saying that the heads of those institutions have been involved in the forced disappearances of people.

He said that VBMP rejects this task force and takes it as a tool to further delay the issue. He added that if lawyers, human rights activists and journalists had been included in the task force, they would have placed more trust in it.

Talking about security forces’ incapability to implement the court orders, Mr Baloch said, the administration was using delaying tactics in the arrest of Brigadier Siddique, the then ISI Balochistan head, despite the Supreme Court’s clear directives to this effect.

He was addressing a press conference along with the family members of Ali Asghar Bangalzai, who was allegedly taken away by the ISI 13 years ago.

The VBMP chairman appealed to the Supreme Court to summon the Balochistan inspector general of police and ask him the reasons why the accused had not been arrested so far?

He also demanded action against the Balochistan IG, saying the family members of the missing persons had knocked on every door in the country for the release of their loved ones but could not get justice anywhere. He said the IG had assured the family members of the missing persons that if any officer of the institution was found involved; he too would be brought to justice.

However, he said despite clear directives by the chief justice, Brigadier Siddque had still not been arrested. He said Asghar’s case had been pending in the Supreme Court since 13 years.

He said Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch, during his visit to the token hunger strike camp set up outside the Quetta press Club, had assured them of solving the issue on priority basis but most of the incumbent CM’s time was also spent in Islamabad just that of the previous chief minister.
